院校研究与大学治理结构——以美国院校研究职能的演变与大学治理结构的关系为例

摘　　要：美国院校研究的职能经历了建校研究、改进管理质量与效益的自我研究、战略规划与管理咨询研究几个发展阶段,而影响美国院校研究和职能发挥的因素主要有实用主义价值观、现代大学传统精神、市场导向的资源配置模式和大学治理结构,其中大学治理结构因素影响较大。通过对美国院校研究职能与美国大学治理结构之间的逻辑关系的分析发现,大学自治权只是美国院校研究产生的前提而不是主要因素,大学校长的权力和地位及市场导向的董事会制治理模式才是院校研究产生的关键因素。The function of the American institutional research has witnessed three stages including the research for college set-up, for improving the quality and efficiency of colleges, and for strategy planning and management consulting. The factors that affect the emergence and development of the American institutional research encompass America pragmatism values, modern university tradition, market-oriented resource configuration model, and university governance structure. Among them, the governance structure plays the key role in the forming and developing of institutional research. By tracing the formation and development of American university governance structure and the American institutional research, we can easily find that it is the power and position of American university president and the board of regent＇s market-oriented system that help the emergence of institutional research. Though university autonomy is the premise of institutional research, it is not the decisive factor for it.
