毁灭自我? 重塑自我?——美国自白诗派的理性与非理性关系辨析

摘  要:自白诗创作是以精神分析学说为导引的。但在创作实践中,除洛威尔以严格的理性督察成功摆脱精神病困厄外,其他代表性诗人,如普拉斯、塞克斯顿、伯里曼等,大都偏离了理性中轴而陷入非理性泥淖,上演了疯狂、自杀等生命悲剧。以死灭为代价,普拉斯等诗人将生命打磨成了真实映照灵魂的明镜,确保了诗歌经验的真实、自白话语的纯粹。因忠诚自白艺术而放弃生命延存的抉择自然是疯狂的,但也是诗人理性思考的结果:艺术与精神病在"幻想"方面本是相通的。为朝拜艺术圣殿,他们情愿承受被非理性吞噬的风险。Psychoanalytic theory provides an important theoretical reference to understand the relation between rationality and irrationality in the Confessional Poetry.However,except for Lowell,who got rid of mental illness with high rational supervision,most of confessional poets,such as Plath,Sexton and Berryman,deviated from rationality and ended with craziness or suicide.They,through their deaths,polished life into mirrors reflecting the soul and ensured the truth of poetic experience and pureness of confessional words.The choice to give up life because of loyalty to confession for ordinary people is crazy,but it is a result of the poets' rational thinking:art and mental illness in the aspect of 'fantasy' are the same.Confessional poets are willing to bear the risk of being swallowed by irrationality to worship art.
