摘　　要：Prison is a cultural site with an extremely strong mag- netism. A confluence of all kinds of cultures, it has acertain influence over the develop- ment of penalties in prisons. The social culture--dominated by legal culture, harmonious culture and red culture in the transitional period of contemporary society --has been introduced into the process of penalty execution, with significant results in reshaping the personalities of criminals, thus becoming a means, a cultural means, in the hands of prisons for transforming crirninnls.Prison is a cultural site with an extremely strong mag- netism.
