摘　　要：叶斯柏森是传统语法与现代语法的一道分水岭,承前启后。其语法体系完整,突出句法,兼顾语义与语用,兼重描写与解释,多方探析语言现象理据。其"三品说"为解决句子词类问题提供了重要借鉴;其"连系式"、"组合式"等提法是人类语言特质之精要概括。叶氏语法仍具时代感,继续启示着后人。Between traditional and modern grammar,Jespersen stands as a monumental watershed,inheriting the past and ushering in the future.Systematic and comprehensive,Jespersenian Grammar emphasizes syntax without neglecting the semantic and pragmatic sides.Descriptive and explanatory,it explores the reasons and motivations behind the choice of linguistic phenomena.His theory of Ranks provides the key to the word classes in the sentence while his notions of Nexus and Junction capture the essentials of human language.Thus,Jespersenian Grammar remains up-to-date and enlightening.
