摘　　要：As a black woman writer, Toni Morrison exposes the inauthenticity of the male-centered history through her novel creation and presents a real picture of the life of black women in her writing, which is demonstrated in her portrayals of black women. This paper analyzes different kinds of typical black women characters and their resultant fates under double oppressions of sex and race which tends to dig up Morrison＇s ultimate aim in creating these black female characters--to seek the way to authentic and whole existence for black women and black race in general. She asserts the positive self-definition as essential and calls her fellow sisters to find their own outlets in a proper way. Through this paper, the author hopes to shed some light on academic studies on Toni Morrison and her works from a new perspective
