老子之“德”英译得失考

摘　　要：《道德经》中"德"的范畴仅次于"道",然而业界对其英译问题的研究却几乎未见。本文首先对老子之"德"的涵义进行梳理,再通过英译本中宗教类、哲理类、语文类和演义类典型译者对"德"的关键句的翻译比较,以及译者选词译"德"的心理历程的分析,得出译者因文化背景、历史根源、认知差异等原因,造成了他们对"德"的译解只是从不同角度、不同层面体会"德"的内涵,只能触及到老子思想内涵的某个方面,其不准确性与不完整性,甚至失误与谬误,比比皆是。The concept of De in 'Dao De Jing'follow s Dao.C ompared w ith the academic research on Dao's translation,there is scarecely any research on the interpretation of'De'in W estern Languages.This paper discusses firstly the philosophical meaning of De in its original text,and then compares it with its English interpretations in terms of religion,philosophy and language focus as well as re-rendering versions.Finally through probing what the interpreters took into consieration in the process of interpreting,historical,cultural and congnitive differences are discussed on the main reasons w hich resulted in the different interpreting,even misinterpreting so that a true understanding of 'De'in'Dao De Jing'is urgently needed in the disseminating world.
