[Methods] In present study, 51 days post hatch (dph) juveniles of rare minnows (Gobiocypris rams) were exposed to various concentrations of 17β-estradiol for 28 days in flow-through conditions. Growth performance, vitellogenin, sex ratio and gonadal histopathology were analyzed. [Results] Compared with control, the results showed that the length increase was inhibited at 259 and 1180 ng/L (P≤0.05, P≤0.01). And VTG concentrations in female fishes were decreased significantly at 8, 48 and 259 ng/L E2 treated groups (P≤0.01), and in male fishes were increased significantly at 1180 ng/L E: treated group (P≤0.01) compared with control. Based on histopathologic examination, no obviously difference in sex ratio was found between the treatment and control groups, however, intersex was found at 48 ng/L E2 treatment group, and at 259, 1180 ng/L E: treatment groups, male fishes spermaries appeared visibly depauperate. [Conclusions] 17fl-Estradiol performed estrogenic effects on gonads differentiation of the 51 dph juveniles of rare minnows, and it need to be studied further to take rare minnows as survival experimental prototype to screen and evaluate endocrine disrupters.
