摘  要:本文试图运用词汇密度与正式度之间的密切联系并利用计算词汇密度的方法对英语专业研究生学位论文中的语体正式度进行研究。结果显示,英语专业研究生教学学位论文中的词汇密度之值普遍大于13,大多数中国英语专业研究生的摘要教学中,具有较高的正式度值。从影响词汇密度的三要素入手,为论文写作教学提供一些有益的启示。Formality, which is closely connected with the lexical density,is a significant element reflecting the level of an Eng- lish abstract writing. Generally speaking, the higher the lexical density is, the more formal the writing is. This thesis, through analyzing the relationship between Lexical Density and formality on the basis of Lexical Density calculation, studies the formality in abstracts of English majors' graduation theses. According to this method, it shows the Lexical Density in English majors' grad- uate theses is almost higher than 13, which means there's a high formality in English abstracts teaching. Starting with the three elements related to Lexical Density, this thesis studies the formality of abstracts in English majors' graduation theses with the aims to help English learners and instructors be aware of the importance of the formality in English abstracts, and thus inspire them to take measures to improve the abstract writing.
