摘 要:英美文学一直是大学英语专业的核心知识课程和主要研究方向之一,是大学人文教育的重要组成部分。然而,近些年来,文学教学和研究被边缘化,已经是不争的事实。本文对这种现象背后的症结进行分析,提出要让文学回归其原有的位置,成为实现大学人文理想与精神的重要环节。本文认为,文学教学和研究需要紧扣文学本体性,即文学话语的本质及其背后的发生机制。文学教学和研究需要兼顾文本内外,既强调文本内部的内容、形式和审美,又不忽视外部的作家、历史文化语境和意识形态,两者互动互补,糅合作品、作家与现实等多元因素进行创新,传播人文思想与知识,加强理论思辩,提高审美情趣,进行与文学形态本身一样充满生机和智性的文学教学和研究。British and American literature, an important component of humanistic education in university, has been one of the core courses and one of the primary research areas of English major. However, in recent years, literary teaching and research have been marginalized for various reasons. This paper, after a brief trace of the possible reasons, argues that literature should be replaced to its own position, functioning as an important component of liberal education and spirit of universities. The innovation of literary teaching and research should be oriented by literature' s ontological features, that is, what constitutes the literary texts and how they are constructed. The complex mechanism of literary production, which involves multiple elements including text, author and reality, should be emphasized in such a way as to cultivate students' critical ability and cultivate their aesthetic taste to conduct a living and resource- ful literature teaching and research.
