Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of oral administration of propranolol in infantile associated with head or neck hemangiomas. Methods 90 infants associated with advanced stage of hemangiomas were divided into 2 groups randomly. 45 cases were orally administrated with optimal dose of propranolol and dexamethasone in each group. Both doses in them were based on the weight of patients. All patients were evaluated clinical effects after 1-24 months of follow-up. Results The total effective rate in propranolol group was 97. 78% and was superior to dexamethasone group (77. 78%). No severe complications was noted in both groups. Conclusions Oral administration of propranolol is an easy and reliable way to treat infantile with advanced stage of head or neck hemangiomas with less side effects, and can be as effective reagents for such patients.
