也说师■鼎铭的“困(韋東)伯太师武”  

A More Study of“ 困伯(韋東)太师武 ”Inscribed on The Bronze Vessel of The Western Zhou Dynasty

摘　　要：师■鼎铭"困伯太师武"一句的"困(韋東)"二字,原文写法非常奇怪。裘锡圭先生释为"東(韋東)",读为"范围",认为是遵循、效法之意。本文同意把后一字释为"(韋東)",但把前一字改释为"困"。"困(韋東)"也是遵循、效法的意思。So far as the two puzzling characters of '■' from the inscription cast on the bronze vessel (Shi Zai Ding) of the Western Zhou dynasty which was excavated in Shan’xi province in 1974 is concerned, Mr. Qiu Xigui has interpreted them two as ' 東(韋東)' and pronounced them'fàn wéi ', which means ‘to comply with…’ or ‘ to follow the example of …’. However, by further studying them, this paper insists the former character should be interpreted as ' 困' in spite of its agreement with Mr. Qiu on his explanation of the latter one ' (韋東)'. The phrase ' 困(韋東)' has the same meaning of ‘to comply with…’ or ‘to follow the example of …’ as ,'東(韋東)' does .
