摘　　要：英语习语是一种约定俗成、言简意赅的词语,在英语的口语和书面语中普遍存在,是英语语言的重要组成部分。正确认识、理解英语习语,便于人们形象生动、精辟、地道的用英文表达自己的思想和观点。本文试从英语习语的定义、特点和应用三个方面对习语进行阐述,以利于人们学习和正确地使用英语习语。English idioms are conventional, few and pithy phrases, which are very popular in oral and written English. In fact, they are important component of English language. In order to express his concepts and opinions vividly, wisely and naturally, one should learn and understand idioms properly. This paper tries to interpret English idioms in terms of definition, feature and application so as to help learners have a grasp of this language feature.
