海外汉学的坚守与盲视——以夏志清对《阿Q正传》的评价为例

摘　　要：夏志清以其贯通中西的学术视野成为研究中国现代文学史的第一人,他的《中国现代小说史》是海外汉学研究的重要成果,运用中西文学批评理论,融会贯通地探讨了中国新文学小说创作的发展方向,不仅拉近了中国文学与世界文学的关系,也使得张爱玲、沈从文、钱钟书等作家获得了应有的地位。但由于理论来源、思想倾向、批评立场等诸多方面的不同,虽然多有创见,却也引来了不少争议,尤其是对鲁迅先生的评价更是引起了学术界的热烈讨论,多数学者还是认为他对鲁迅的评价是偏低的。通过夏先生对《阿Q正传》的解读可以看出海外汉学研究者在为艺术和为人生之间的艰难选择.As the first person on the study of Chinese modern history of literature, Xia Zhiqing can blend the view of Chinese and Western. His History of Modern Chinese Fiction is a valuable overseas Sinology research. The use of Chinese and Western theories of literary criticism guides the development of Chinese new literary fiction, which not only narrows the gap between the Chinese literature and world literature, but also gives Zhang Ailing, Shen Congwen, Qian Zhongshu and other writers due position. But the source of theory, ideological tendency, critical stance and other aspects are very different, although have many originality, also cause a lot of controversy, especially the low evaluation of Lu Xun. By Mr. Xia＇ s interpretation of Ah Q we can see the difficult choice of the over- seas Chinese studies between art and life.
