Amy Tan is an outstanding Chinese-American novelist in the recent years. Living in the Chinese and American cultures, she created The Joy Luck Club with special artistic technique out of her deep self-experience. The second generation Chinese American daughters created in The Joy Luck Club were born and grew up in American, most of them reject their own cultural tradition and cater to American values. Even more, they display negative serf-evaluation, self-hatred and self-denial. This is the reflection of the daugh- ters' inferiority when they are under the strong racial discrimination and assimilation pressure.
