摘　　要：模糊限制语是最普遍、最典型的模糊语言,对规避语言的外显性有其独特的语用功能。体现为扩大话语信息容量,使表达委婉客气、隐藏说话人的关系等。对其进行元语用的分析,可有效提高人们的沟通能力,实现良好的交际效果。As a typical part of fuzzy language, English hedges play a particular role in avoidance of explicit meaning. This paper,from a pragmatic perspective, attempts to explore the category of English hedges and their functions. Then, a metapragmatic analysis is made in order to improve the interpersonal relationship between speakers and listeners and help to achieve the purpose of communication in English.
