摘　　要：对大学办学特色本质的讨论是办学特色研究的逻辑起点,更是特色建设的基础。大学的本质差异体现在大学文化个性和品质的差异,办学特色蕴涵于大学文化之中。办学特色的本质是高品位大学文化彰显出来的独特魅力。大学特色建设的必由之路是大学的文化建设,而提升大学文化品位是形成办学特色的核心问题。A discussion on the essence of characteristics of running university is not only the logic starting point of the research of university＇ s characteristics, but the foundation of constructing the characteristics as well. Differences between Universities have been reflected in cultural individuality and quality of various universities. Characteristics reside in the culture of a university, and it is the essence of such characteristics which could highlight unique glamour of high-grade culture of the university. So culture construction is the necessary way to build characteristics of running university. And the central question of generating characteristics is to promote university culture taste.
