礼貌策略的英汉对比研究——以《傲慢与偏见》及其译本为例

摘　　要：礼貌策略在社会交往中是不可或缺的,而且它们往往因使用语言的不同而发生变化。从语言角度出发,在词汇和句法两个层面上对《傲慢与偏见》及其中译本中的英、汉礼貌策略进行对比研究发现:首先,语言本身会对人们表达礼貌的方式产生很大的影响。英、汉两种语言的差异使得它们的母语使用者在社会交往中会采用不同的礼貌策略。其次,在出现相同的威胁面子的言语行为时,英、汉两种语言在礼貌策略的采用上相同点要多于不同点。这表明,在大多数情况下,Leech的礼貌原则并不存在语言类型上的差异。Politeness strategies are indispensable in social interactions and they normally vary from one language to another. This paper makes a comparative study of politeness strategies between English and Chinese from the perspec- tive of language, limiting the research scope within Pride and Prejudice and its Chinese version. The study of similari- ties and differences in politeness strategies is mainly conducted at both lexical and syntactic levels. Based on the study, the ensuing two findings have been tentatively arrived at. Firstly, the language itself has a great influence on the way of expressing politeness. Therefore, the differences between English and Chinese cause their native speakers to adopt dif- ferent politeness strategies in social interactions. Secondly, there are more similarities and relatively fewer differences in politeness strategies between English and Chinese when the same face-threatening act is performed, which proves that in most cases, Leech＇s politeness principle holds water in both languages.
