摘　　要：自从《定军山》于1905年诞生以来,中国电影已经走过了一百多年的历史进程。然而我们对于20世纪初在中国大陆所拍摄的一些中国电影依然所知甚少。例如,笔者2003年在英国《伦敦新闻画报》上发现了一则对于1927年2月21日伦敦举行中国影片《青花瓷盘的传说》首映仪式的报道。这是有确凿记载的一部最早在海外上映的中国影片,而且当时的英国王后陛下玛丽王后亲自出席了这次文化盛典。所有这些都证明这部全部角色均由中国演员扮演,外景在杭州西湖边拍摄的早期影片应该成为中国电影史上的一个重要里程碑。然而奇怪的是,它在中国电影史上尚无任何记载,国内几乎所有的中国电影史学者和专家们对其都一无所知。该电影究竟讲了一个什么样的故事?它又是在什么样的背景之下拍摄的?谁是这部电影的导演?为何国内没有任何对于这部影片的记载?它又如何能够成为首部在欧美上映的中国影片?经过几年在国外的深入调查研究,笔者试图在本文中揭开这影片上的神秘面纱。Since the first Chinese film drama made in 1905, China＇s history of film-making has already passed its centenary. Nevertheless we still know very little about some of the early Chinese films. For in-stance, the author of this paper discovered in 2003 a news report in The Illustrated London News about a special matin6e performance of the Chinese film drama, The Legend of Willow-Pattern Plate, in London by the Gaumont Film Company. This is the first Chinese film drama ever recorded being shown outside China, and Mary of Teck, Her Majesty the Queen, attended the opening ceremony in person. All of this proves that this all-Chinese cast film, with its outdoor episodes taken in the suburbs of Hangzhou, should be an important milestone in the history of Chinese films. It is surprising to find that this film has not been recorded in the current history of Chinese films and the scholars, even experts, in China's Mainland know next to nothing about it. What is the story of this Chinese film drama？ How was it made into a film？ Who was its director？ Why is there no record of this film drama in China's Mainland？ How did it become the first Chinese film shown in England and America？ After several years of investigation and research in the United States, the author will eventually try to unveil the mystery of this particular Chinese film dra-
