摘　　要：终身教育是随着人类社会现代化发展和进步而诞生的全新教育形态,它在扬弃各类传统教育精华和弊端的同时,也把各类传统教育包含在自身形态体系之中,并赋予其以新的使命。成人教育因其本质属性与功能的特殊,故而在终身教育形态的形成、发展和体系的完善中发挥了难以替代的支撑作用。本文通观了世界终身教育发展、进步的全面情况,从三个方面论述了成人教育在终身教育体系建设中的功能和作用。Lifelong education is a new form of education with the development and progress of human society modernization. Lifelong education sublates essences and defects of all kinds of tradi- tional education, contains all forms of traditional education in its form system at the same time and gives them new missions. Because of its essential attribute and special function, adult education plays an irreplaceable role in the formation and development of lifelong education. This article pro- vides an overview of the development and progress of lifelong education in the world, and studies the function of adult education in lifelong education system from three aspects.
