摘　　要：图书馆是人类社会公共知识的保存、传播与利用机构。公共知识具有典型的公共物品属性,是一种公有性和共享程度比较高的知识形态。公共知识具有内容的共识性、形式的编码化、获取途径的公开性和使用的较少限制等特征。公共知识的社会价值体现在:它是整个社会的知识存量;是社会成员社会化的前提;是实现知识创新的基础;是实现社会交流,维系社会存续的纽带。Library is an institution of preserving, disseminating and utilizing human public knowledge. Public knowledge has typical properties of public goods, and is with a relatively high degree of public and sharing. Public knowledge has such features as the content of consensus, codified form, open access and less use restriction. The social values of public knowledge are embodied in the following aspects： it is the stock of knowledge in society as a whole, the premise of members beingsocialized, the basis of knowledge innovation, the ties of social exchanges and social subsisting.
