The movement of opening university to the not as a response to aging, but as echoes of universities elderly boomed in Germany in the late 1970s. Originally to lifelong learning, it has been included in continuing education at higher education institutions for society. However, with the interplay between demographieal aging and massification of higher education, the intergenerational contradiction in universities has been transformed and the "elderly-phobia" spread around German universities. New propositions are put forward thereby: whether the increment gained from epitaxial development of higher education can counteract with the aging population's increasing need for continuing education at higher education institutions; whether higher education and education for the elderly still go separate ways so that an entirely different route-style confrontation is formed. The author believes that higher education should not only persist in its sociality but also defend its academic nature, which can help promote the academic-oriented turning of education for the elderly.
