摘　　要：雷祖威的小说《爱的痛苦》叙述了主人公阿伟和他的母亲庞夫人在双重文化下的日常生活经历，他们承受着爱的痛苦。该研究论证了阿伟和母亲因语言障碍和文化价值观的差异而被疏离，集中分析了以上两个因素给双方带来的痛苦。研究表明，跨文化环境下，有效的沟通可以促进人们对爱的理解。The title story Pangs of Love by David Wong Louie recounts the daily experiences of the protagonist Ah-Vee and his mother Mrs. Pang in bicultural context. They are misunderstood by ineffective communication. This investigation argues that they are alienated by linguistic barriers and different cultural values. It focuses on their experiences of pangs of love caused by lan- guage boundaries and cultural differences, and it analyzes Ah-Vee＇s respect and love for his mother. It suggests that love can be un- derstood by effective communication and shared across cultures.
