According to the history of new literature, John Dewey, Bertrand Russell, Rabindranath Tagore and Bernard Shaw came to visit China in succession to publicize their ideology and cultural proposition. It is a pity that in the time when revolution meant everything, the people in China accepted them in the practical aspect rather than in the theoretical ways. Nowadays, with the ending of the thinking pattern of binary opposition and the abnormal sit- uation during the war, it is possible and necessary to re - think and re - comment the influences John Dewey, Ber- trand Russell, Rabindranath Tagore and Bernard Shaw brought to China with their ideology, works and presentation during their visit in multi -dimensional and compound ways.
