摘　　要：在《罗慕拉》中,蒂托一生都在寻找身份、寻找认同;然而对社会认同的狭隘理解会导致一个人性格的扭曲和自我的异化。作者通过对蒂托的毁灭原因的揭示来体现一种道德关怀,发出对追求个人利益和物质利益的最大化的社会主流话语的诘问,认为追求个人幸福是无可厚非的,但必须是以满足他人的幸福、履行社会的责任为前提的。In Romola, Tito had been struggling for identity and identification all through his life, but his parochial view of so- cial identification only resulted in the distortion of his personality and self alienation. By revealing the factors leading to Tito＇s ruin, George Eliot embodied her concerns on morality and besieged the social dominating discourse which advocating the material pursuit of individual interests, arguing that the pursuit of happiness was undeniable only on the premise that his responsibilities to others and society were fulfilled.
