摘　　要：当代美国诗人、教授、诗评家苏珊·斯迪沃特的诗学专著《诗人的自由:创作札记》内容丰富而又深刻,结构精巧而又紧凑。从狭义上来说,它是一部关于诗歌创作论的力作;从广义上来说,它是一部关于艺术创作论的精品。本文试图运用归纳法和分类法,评述专著作者的诗人自由观的复杂内涵,解析"创作"、"逆创作"、"消极的自由"、"积极的自由"、"诗歌"、"语言"等重要概念,论及书中所展示的与诗歌本体、诗人的自由和创作密切相关的多种元素,进而在几个特定的层面揭示诗歌的本质、艺术创作的奥秘以及艺术与人生的关联性。Profound in artistic implications, and elaborate in structural patterns, The Poet＇s Freedom： .4 Notebook on Making is a recent monograph by Susan Stewart, a contemporary American poetess, professor, and critic, and it is a critical masterpiece both on the making of poetry and on the making of art of any genres. By using the methods of induction and classification, this review attempts to crystallize Stewart＇s multivalent concept of the poet＇s freedom and its rich connotations, interpret her suggestive terms, such as ＂making＂, ＂unmaking＂, ＂negative freedom＂, ＂positive freedom＂, ＂poetry＂, and ＂language＂, and touch on the numerous kinds of poetry-related, freedom-related, and making-related elements as represented in her book--in the hope that more light will be thrown on the very nature of poetry, on the secrets of art making, and on the interrelatedness between art and human life.
