摘　　要：远程教学是一种全新的知识传播方式 ,是实现终身教育和全民教育的有效手段。论文介绍了作者在 1997～1998年完成的一个优化的远程教学系统 REDU / TH - 1,它已经被 40 0多个用户访问。 REDU / TH - 1是一个基于 Java和 Web的很有效的远程教学系统 ,其中 ,关键的技术是 Java技术 ,Agent技术 ,实时技术和 Web技术。这些技术的结合使系统得到优化 ,它兼备 Java的平台无关性、稳定性和多线程 ,Agent的独立性和面向对象的封装性 ,以及实时技术的直接性等特点。从而 ,使 Internet网上的任何一台计算机 (不管它使用什么操作系统 )都可以在任何时候任何地方访问这个系统。论文阐述了此系统的设计思想、特点、技术和结构。由于使用了 Java技术和 Internet技术 ,所以 ,不管是客户端计算机还是服务器都不需要改变它们的硬件便可以加入该系统。Distance education systems are a new means of transmitting knowledge. It is effective for realizing lifelong education and whole person education. This paper introduces an optimized distance education system REDU/TH 1 that was finished in 1998. Over 400 users have visited it. REDU/TH 1 is an effective distance education system based on Java and Web technology. The key technologies in the system are Java technology, Agent technology, Real Time technology, and Web technology. The combination of these technologies resulted in a very effective system. Which contains unconnected platforms, steady, multithread Java technology, real time technology, and independent and object oriented agent technology. Therefore, any computer connected to the internet can access the system anywhere and anytime regardless of the operating system. This paper describes design ideas, characters, technologies and system structure. With using Java technology, Neither the client computern or the server need change hardware to join the system.
