摘　　要：大学英语课堂沉默对大部分中国学生来说是普遍存在的现象。针对这一现象,近年来国内外学者及研究人员从不同的角度去研究以求找出解决问题的办法,有研究人员亦指出中国的面子文化对课堂沉默现象的深远影响。本文从国内外面子理论的角度对大学英语课堂沉默现象进行解读并从理论的角度提出解决问题的途径。Classroom silence in college English study is a common phenomenon for most Chinese students. On the subject of this, scholars and researchers at home and abroad recently study it from different angles to find solutions, and even some researchers point out that the face culture in China has a great influence on classroom silence. The article intends to interpret this phenomenon with face theories both at home and abroad, and tries to explore the solutions to this problem.
