摘　　要：阅读是亨利·詹姆斯的小说《一位女士的画像》的重要隐含主题之一。小说中有多处围绕着伊莎贝尔进行的有关阅读的描写和隐喻,从而吸引读者从读者反应批评理论对伊莎贝尔的一生进行解读。作为一名持现代阐释理念的读者,伊莎贝尔的命运主要受到以下三个方面的影响:她对她的三个追求者的现代阐释学解读,尤其是她对奥斯蒙德这个具有空白的文本的创造性误读;表兄拉尔夫对她的创造性阅读;以及奥斯蒙德在阅读中所秉持的古典阐释学立场。她对文本空白的强烈兴趣极大地影响了她的婚姻选择。Reading is one of the hidden subjects in Henry James＇s The Portrait of a Lady. As a hidden text in this novel, Isabel＇s reading and being read as a text are interwoven with her love and marriage. Readers are attracted by the various descriptions and metaphors of reading processes in this novel to interpret Isabel＇s life from a reader-response perspective. Three major elements have influenced Isabel＇s fate： her different readings of her three suitors, especially her creative misreading of Osmond; Ralph＇s creative reading of her life; and Osmond＇s traditional reading of Isabel as a wife. Her marriage choice is closely related to her interest in blanks in the text, which has caused her misreading of Osmond.
