摘　　要：毛姆的作品大都以探讨人性价值和人生意义为主题。毛姆对人生意义和人性价值的探索过程,也就是他的精神信仰之旅。毛姆的精神探索大概可以分为对基督教的摒弃,对叔本华哲学思想的认同,以及想借助东方哲学来拯救西方文明这三个阶段。The value of human nature and the meaning of life are the common theme of Maugham＇ s works. The process of Maugham＇ s exploring human nature and the meaning of life is also his spiritual travel. Maugham＇ s spiritual exploration involves three steps, abandoning the belief in Christianity, turning to the philosophy of Schopenhauer＇ s pessimism and attempting to use oriental philosophy to save the western civilization.
