摘　　要：在单向度的后现代社会中,自由与需求都具有虚幻性,一切都具有类象和复制品的特征。由此,后现代主义作家强调所有文本都是用语言符号去编造虚假的故事来反映本身就是虚假的社会现实,进而把读者引入到双重虚假之中。论述了后现代作家理查德.鲍尔斯的力作《回声制造者》中三位主人公——马克、卡琳、韦博眼中所呈现的双重虚幻的社会现实,以及他们在后现代社会的双重虚幻之中各自经历着双重错觉的身份认同危机。同时《回声制造者》中充满了一系列不确定性因素,而不确定性恰恰是后现代的主要特征之一。后现代文本就是通过语言游戏来揭示现实社会的符号化和虚幻性。In one-dimensional postmodern society, freedom and demand are illusory. And everything acquires the characteristics of simulacra and copy. Therefore, postmodern writers argue that any text is an illusory story reflecting illusory social reality with linguistic signs, which leads readers into double illusions. This paper discusses the double illusory social reality in the eyes of the three protagonists--Mark, Kalin and Weber in The Echo Maker by postmodern writer Richard Powers. And in such double illusions, the three protagonists encounter respectively self-identification crisis. The novel The Echo Maker is full of a series of uncertainty, and uncertainty is one of the major features of Postmodernism. Through language game, postmodern texts try to expose symbolization and illusoriness of our society.
