摘  要:林纾是末代古文家的代表,他一方面顽强地守护着传统的文道观念,另一方面又将本来是本体论的文道论悄然改变为工具论,在此同时将性情作为文章的本体,并特别强调散文的无用性和审美性,这无疑是中国散文学文道范式的一次重要转变。遗憾的是,由于他坚定的古文立场,在新文化运动对古文及孔孟之道的双重冲击下,他不能不在维护古文的同时对其中的道理也一并守护,这使得他的性情说并没有悖离道理。林纾在散文学这个根本问题上的转变及其困境体现了鲜明的近代特征。Lin Shu, as a representative of the classical writer in Qing Dynasty, on the one hand, tenaciously guarded the traditional lit- erary and moral view, on the other hand, he changed the literary and moral theory which used to be ontology into a tool theory. At the mean time, he put temperament was the noumenon of an article, with special emphasis on the uselessness and aesthetics of the prose, which undoubtedly is an important transformation of literary and moral pattern in Chinese prose theory. However, it is a pity that due to his steady position of ancient prose, and under the double attacks of New Culture Movement towards ancient prose and Confucianism, he could not maintain the ancient prose as well as the principles inside. This makes his temperament theory not go far behind the truth. Lin' s theory on the transition and puzzles of prose' s fundamental issue embodies distinctive modern characteristics.
