中英“麋鹿外交”

摘　　要：在1954-1956年间,伦敦动物学会提议向中国科学院赠送麋鹿,在英国左翼人士蒙塔古的协助下,该赠送提议得到中方的积极回应。在赠送活动筹备期间,英国外交部一度积极介入,欲以麋鹿作为改善其在华形象的宣传工具,后因意识形态的顾虑而选择退出;中国的外交部门也在幕后参与了此次赠送活动。由于两国的官方机构未能从活动的幕后走向台前,使中英间的这次麋鹿外交中途夭折。在之后的30年,英方又数次向中国赠送麋鹿,直到它们在故乡繁殖成功。麋鹿赠送活动构筑了中英两国科学与文化交流的一段佳话,是当代中英关系史的重要插曲。During the period of 1954-1956,London Animal Society proposed to donate David’s deer to Chinese Academy of Sciences.With assistance by Montague,a left-wing,the proposal received active response from China.During the preparation,the Foreign Affairs Office of UK actively involved with the intention to use the deer as tool to change its image but retreated because of ideological considerations.China’s diplomatic department also joined in the activity behind the curtain.These two backstage activities led to the abortion of the donation.30 years later,UK donated David deer several times and found their breed in their hometown.This is not only a moving story of scientific and culture exchanges between China and UK but also an important episode of the foreign relations between China and UK.
