是“职业”更是“表白”——Mrs.Warren's Profession中“Profession”的双关性

摘　　要：Profession一词在萧伯纳的戏剧《华伦夫人的职业》的特殊语境中使用,不仅表达了"职业"的意思,更有"表白"的深层含义,然而传统的中文译本一直翻译成"职业",有欠妥当。华伦夫人的"表白"实则是滴血的控诉,鞭笞了整个资本主义制度和父权主义对女性的压迫,表达出作者对维多利亚时代受压迫女性的无比同情。采用该词让这种控诉更深刻,意义更深远。Mrs. Warren＇s Profession is a drama written by Bernard Shaw in his early life. Used in such a special dramatic context, the word ＂profession＂ not only means ＂occupation＂, but also has deeper implications. Yet in traditional Chinese translation version of the drama, the word ＂profession＂ has always been taken as the meaning ＂occupation＂, which is improper upon fur- ther contemplation. The ＂profession＂ made by Mrs. Warren is, in fact, an accusation of the ex- treme oppression and the cruel exploitation of women in the capitalist society Through Mrs. Warren＇ s confession, the author relentlessly shows his great sympathy for the oppressed women in the Victorian age. The adoption of such a word in the title of the drama makes the criticism more profound and significant.
