摘 要:在中国长期生活过的赛珍珠对中国社会有着较为深入的了解,对中国人民有着自发的情感,她以一种跨越国界和种族文化的视角对中国当时的社会状况进行客观描述。赛珍珠对中国农民的心态有着细腻、直接的观察,她准确地把握住了"土地"这一中国农民的生存基础和文化命脉。在其代表作《大地》中,赛珍珠饱含女性主义的同情,以写实的手法成功地塑造了阿兰、王龙等一批勤劳朴实的中国农民形象。她的作品既改变了19世纪以来西方人心目中被扭曲的中国人的形象,更充分地展现了中国农民热爱土地、珍视土地的"大地情结",从而开启了西方世界对中国人和中国文化的理解之门。In her masterpiece The Good Earth, Pearl S. Buck brought the images of Chinese people, especially Chinese farmers into the world's cultural horizons. The Good Earth revealed Chinese farmers" passion and devotion to earth. At the same time, it greatly converted the distorted stereotype of Chinese images in the Westerners'mind. Pearl S. Buck lived in China for almost 40 years, thus she formed an in-depth understanding of Chinese society and a spontaneous emotion toward Chinese people. Pearl S. Buck was able to step out of the Western central visual field, and objectively conveyed the prevailing social situation and her cross-cultural experiences in China. Pearl S. Buck had a delicate and direct observation on Chinese peasants, and she accurately grasped "earth" as the survival core of Chinese peasants. She realistically depicted Chinese industrious and down-to-earth farmers in her masterpiece. Her works not only changed the distorted stereotype of Chinese images in the Westerners'mind, but also fully demonstrated Chinese farmers" deep and passionate "earth complex. "
