摘　　要："世界"是一个颇有佛教渊源的词语,它从构词结构上脱胎于先秦时空相融的"宇宙"概念,从内涵上则是古印度佛教冲击、融合中土文化的产物。作为形上学的基本概念,"世界"在汉语概念史上具有独特地位。它在汉译佛典里的缘起、滥觞和流变,反映了东亚历史上纷繁变化的世界图景,不仅可管窥中印古代文化交流之宏伟、亦可管窥中古中国佛玄思潮之交映兴衰。The term ＂Shijie＂ has a Buddhist origin, morphemically derived from ＂Yuzhou＇＇, an integration of time and space in pre - Qin period. In terms of connotation, it is a result of the impacts from Indian Bud- dhism and integ The term ＂Shijie＂ seems to be a piece of mirror that clearly reflects how the ancient Chinese understood more in - depth the self and the universe with the great impact of Indian Buddhism. As a meta- physical term, ＂Shiiie＂ plays an important role in Chinese. Its origin and change reflect the diverse changes in the history of eastern Asia, not only the magnificence of ancient cultural communication between China and Indian, but also the rise and fall of Buddhism and metaphy,sics in ancient China
