Objective: To explore the therapeutic efficacy of brain glioma treated with postoperative radiotherapy combined with temozolomide chemotherapy.Method: 54 patients with WHO grade ~I - IV gliomas from January 2008 to December 2010 were divided into group A and group B, with 27 patients in each group. Both groups were given radiotherapy after surgical resection of the tumor.Group B was given radiotherapy, group A was given temozolomide chemotherapy on the basis of radiotherapy. The short-term effect, survival and adverse reactions of two groups were compared.Result: The effective rate of group A ( 77.8% ) was higher than that of group B ( 48.1% ) .The difference was statistically significant between the two groups ( P〈0.05 ) . The one-year survival rates of the two groups showed no significant difference ( P〉0.05 ) .The two-year survival rate of group A was 48.1%, which was higher than the 22.2% of group B, the difference was statistically significant ( P〈0.05 ) .Compared the adverse reactions of group A with group B, the difference was not statistically significant ( P〉0.05 ) .Conclusion: Postoperative radiotherapy combinecl with chemotherapy treating glioma can effectively improve the therapeutic effect and prolong the survival, should be widely applied.
