摘　　要：王国维最基本的精神质素是鉴赏,而不是创造。王国维真正的才华是对已经存在的文化现象进行鉴赏,作出深刻而准确的判断,而不是创造新文化。简言之,王国维是鉴赏家,而不是创造者。王国维在现代学术史上的价值主要是作为鉴赏家的价值,他的价值到此为止,无论他在现代学术史上的地位多高,但不能超过这一界定。但是,王国维的学术理想并不仅仅是做一名鉴赏家,而是要成为一名创造者——创造纯粹学术,但他不能实现自己的这一理想。当我们反思王国维不能实现自己理想的原因时,我们发现,笼罩在这一学术巨子身上的是一种巨大的悲剧之光,这种悲剧之光在震撼我们的同时也给我们以深刻的启示。The basic spirit quality of Wang Guowei is appreciating rather than creating. Wang Guowei＇s true talent was that he can appreciate the existing cultural phenomenon and can make a profound and accurate judgments of them, rather than create a new culture. In short, Wang Guowei was a connoisseur rather than a creator. Wang Guowei＇s main value in modem academic history is only of value as a connoisseur, his value ends here and not more than such a definition no matter how high his position in modem academic history. However, Wang Guowei ＇ s academic ideal was not just to be a connoisseur, but to become a creator-to create a purely academic, but he can not achieve this ideal. When we reflect on the reason why Wang Guowei can not achieve their ideal, we find that what enveloped in the academic giant is a light of a great tragedy. The light of this tragedy shocks us at the same time also gives us profound insights.
