Objective To investigate the change of interleukin-18(IL-18),interleukin-10(IL-10) and IL-18/IL-10 ratio in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and inquire their roles in the development of NAFLD.Methods The serum levels of IL-18 and IL-10 in rats with NAFLD were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) then calculating the IL-18/IL-10 ratio. Results The change of steatosis and inflammation were notable in NAFLD;the serum levels of IL-18 and IL-18/IL-10 ratio in NAFLD were higher than that of normal group(P0.05),while IL-10 was lower than those in normal group(P0.05);IL-18 in NAFLD was correlated with the development of inflammation(r=0.71,P0.05),IL-10 and IL-18/IL-10 were correlated with the development of inflammation and steatosis(r=-0.64,P0.05;r=-0.46,P0.05;r=0.70,P0.05;r=0.61,P0.05).Conclusion IL-18 is positively correlated with the development of inflammation in rats with NAFLD;IL-10 is negatively correlated with the development of inflammation and steatosis in NAFLD,while IL-18/IL-10 ratio is positively correlated.IL-18/IL-10 plays an important role in the development of NAFLD.
