摘　　要：马修·阿诺德的很多作品都体现了世界主义的观念。与英国国内其他批评家相比,他的文学批评远远超出了本国文学批评的范畴;他对欧洲诸国的教育考察不仅拓宽了视野,也加强了在教育上内外比较的意识;在他追求的完美的文化观念中,兼容并蓄使它历经时间流逝而经久不衰。Matthew Arnold＇s idea of cosmopolitanism is reflected in many of his literary works.Compared with many other literary critics at home,his literary criticism is far beyond the scope of the native one.As an educational inspector,his visits to European countries broaden his horizons on the continental educational circumstances and also reinforce his sense of comparison of education at home and abroad.His cultural idea of his pursuit of perfection is fully inclusive and equitable,which is everlasting with time going on.
