摘　　要：海登·怀特的历史诗学理论经历了一个形成与发展的过程。二十世纪六七十年代是怀特写作《元史学》与历史诗学理论的建构时期,《话语的转义:文化批评文集》是对"历史诗学"的补充,二十世纪八十年代的论文集《形式的内容:叙事话语与历史再现》主要关注历史叙事的话语问题,是"历史诗学"的发展。怀特历史诗学理论提出后引起历史学界、文学界的批评,怀特对这些批评进行回应,对其历史诗学理论也不断地补充、修正、发展,论文集《比喻现实主义:关于模仿效果的研究》就是这一时期的学术成果。Hayden White’s theory of Poetics of History experienced a process of formation and development. White wrote Metahistory and constructed the theory of Poetics of History in sixties and seventies of the twentieth century. Tropics of Discourse：Essays in Cultural Criticism was supplement to the theory of Poetics of History. The Content of the Form：Narrative Discourse and Historical Representation focused on historical narration and developed the theory of Poetics of History. White’s theory caused controversies among the scholars. He responded to these controversies, revised and developed his theory. Figural Realism：Studies in the Mimesis Effect was the academic achievements of this period.
