Objective To investigate the influence of high altitude environment on the blood lipid metabolism of soldiers of motor troops. Methods Thirty seven male soldiers of motor troops who garrisoned at the altitude above 3,700 m for over 9 months were chosen as experimental group. Their blood samples were collected in order to detect the cholesterin ( CH ), triacylglycerol ( TG ), high density lipoprotein(HDL) ,and low density lipoprotein(LDL). Forty soldiers from the same unit who garrisoned at the plain area were chosen as control group. Comparison was made in the indexes above between the two groups. Results The levels of CH, HDL, and LDL in the control group were significantly higher than those in the experimental group( P 〈 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in the TG level between the two groups ( P 〉 0.05 ). Conehlsion The special environment of plateau can lead to the decrease of serum lipid level in soldiers of motor troops. Hence ,the nutrition health education should be strengthened among those soldiers. It is necessary to take pertinent intervention measures to prevent or reduce the significant decrease of lipid levels in those soldiers in order to ensure their health.
