摘　　要：阿契贝怒斥康拉德是一桩事关非洲文学历史进程的著名公案,可是在中国并未得到充分理解。文章从赵海平分析该事件的文章入手,指出其有只知局外人康拉德、不知局内人阿契贝之病;然后将批评的视角调整至非洲文学一方,截取阿契贝对人的描写数例与康拉德比较,以显示他们对原住民的态度;最后谈论阿契贝挑战康拉德的意图,以及重新讨论这场争论的意义。Chinua Achebe versus Joseph Conrad is a well--known case concerning the historic process of African literature, but it is not properly accepted in China. The essay begins with an analysis of Zhao Haipin＇s article on this issue by showing hat he has committed the error of knowing Conrad the outsider but not knowing Achebe the Insider. After adjusting the vision to that of African literature, it makes a comparison between how Conrad describes Africans and how Achebe does it to show their different atti- tudes towards the original inhabitants. At length it demonstrates Achebe~ s intention of the challenge and the lesson that may be drawn from the argument.
