摘　　要：美国作家克莱尔·梅苏德的小说《皇帝的孩子》摆脱"9·11小说"创伤叙事的窠臼,描写纽约知识界文化精英的生活万象,探讨当代美国都市的人文景观和青年人的身份建构,揭示了当代青年知识分子的身份认同困境。本文从布迪厄的文化社会学视角审视年轻人的顺从与反抗,管窥都市社会文化与权力的博弈关系,并借助身份认同理论讨论后9·11时代美国青年在消费文化中身份建构的路径,认为该小说在重构人文价值方面做出了有益的探索。Claire Messud＇s novel The Emperor＇s Children marks a different type of authorship engaged with 9/11 fiction by avoiding the pattern of trauma narratives.With delicate descriptions of the young New Yorkers＇ quest for identity,Messud portrays a cultural landscape of the contemporary metropolis and discusses the identity dilemma of American youths.Adopting a Bourdieusian perspective,this paper examines the novel＇s portrayal of the obedience and resistance of the＂children＂in New York City.It concludes that it explores the game between culture and power and attempts to reconstruct an affirmative humanistic value system in the consumer society by advocating an Emersonian spirit.
