Many Japanese officials and civilians visited China in the Meiji Period, and many recorded what they saw in China. These records are generally known as "travelogues". According to the materials collected, there were more than a hundred types of travelogues written during this period. This article aims to introduce the individuals and organizations that visited China and wrote travelogues during this period, and to explore the types and values of these travelogues. At that time, Japanese' s travel to China was related to Japan' s expansion policy, so instead of sightseeing, the travelogues were explorations designed to investigate and ascertain China' s politics, economy, military and geography.
