摘　　要：新移民作家严歌苓的涉外小说表现了中国移民在美国的生活,涉及形形色色的"美国人"。小说塑造了自立自强的中国移民,解构了美国自塑的"救世主"形象,反映了不同的异国形象。形成这样的异国形象的原因主要有两点:一是中西文化的差异;二是作家的创作个性。The novels by Yan Geling, a new immigrant writer, show the life of Chinese immigrants in the United States, relating to Americans of all kinds. The novels have created self - made Chinese immigrants, deconstructed the ＂savior＂ image claimed by America itself, and reflected a different exotic image. There are two causes for the formation of the exotic image： the differences between Chinese and Western culture, and the writer＇s writing style.
