Atmospheric chemical mechanism considering chlorine chemistry, CACM_CL, was developed based on CACM. The box models were built based on CB05CL and CACM_CL to simulate chlorine chemistry in typical costal cities and the effects of meteorological fields and other pollutants. Results showed that Clz was not affected by meteorological factors and other pollutants, with Cl concentration increased first and then decreased, and relative high concentrations at rural areas led to the lower CIO, HCIO and HCl at urban areas than that at rural areas. Cl was similarly simulated at urban areas by two mech- anisms, but CACM_CL predicted higher Cl at rural areas due to its reactive OH radicals. Temperature could affect Cl, ClO, HOCl and HCl, while the effects of pressure were negligible. Relative humidity showed negligible effects on Cl, while C10 and HCIO increased with increased relative humidity. Other pollutants such as O3and NO could affect chlorines as well, espe- cially for Cl in CACM_CL mechanism. Complex effects of high temperature, high relative humidity and high concentrations of O3 and NO were obvious, which would increase ClO and HClO concentrations and affect Cl concentrations simulated by CACM CL.
