Objective: To study the rhythm of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding( UGIB) and its relationship with meteorological factors. Methods: The UGIB cases who were hospitalized in Hangzhou No. 3 People's Hospital from 2003 to 2011,as well as the daily meteor- ological data in this period, were collected. The variation in incidence of UGIB in different seasons and solar terms was evaluated, and the relationship between meteorological factors and incidence of UGIB was analyzed. Results: The incidence of UGIB varied significantly in different seasons( P < 0. 01) and solar terms( P < 0. 01). The incidence of UGIB was significantly higher in winter and spring than in summer and autumn. In addition, the incidence of UGIB was high in the Waking of Insects,Pure Brightness,Grain Rain,Frost's Descent,Beginning of Winter, and Slight Snow. The correlation analysis showed that the incidence of UGIB was positively correlated with average atmospheric pressure and negatively correlated with human comfort index. Conclusion: The incidence of UGIB is high in cold seasons and the solar terms with great changes in the weather, suggesting that UGIB should be prevented mainly in peak periods.
