摘　　要：当前形势下,人民警察只有提高自身科学素质,具备较强的技术能力,才能在构建社会主义和谐社会中发挥积极作用。根据公安工作的特点和实战要求,警察科学素质分为四大内容即科学知识、科学方法、科学精神、科学思维,和五大能力即自我净化、自我完善、自我提高和自我革新的能力、维护国家安全的能力、驾驭社会治安局势的能力、处置突发事件的能力、为经济社会发展服务的能力。Nowadays, only enhance the personal scientific literacy and master stronger technical capabili ties, the people＇s police can participate positively in building a harmonious socialist society. According to the characteristics of the public security work and practical requirements, the police science literacy is divided into four contents and five abilities. The four contents include scientific knowledge, scientific method, scientific spirit and scientific thinking. The five abilities include the ability of self-purification, self-perfection, self improvement and self-innovation, the ability to safeguard national security, the ability to control the situation in social security, the ability of responding to emergencies, the ability to serve economic and social develop ment.
