摘　　要：2012年的"林双关语"现象引起了人们对英语双关语的关注。英语双关语曾在英美文学作品中发挥着极其独特的修辞作用。在当今社会,英语双关语更多地见诸商业广告、报刊的文章和标题、政治标语等领域。本研究对英语双关语的称谓、功能、历史上有关双关语的是非曲直及其构成特点等作了粗浅探讨。The emergence of ＂Lin Puns＂ in 2012 draws widespread interest in English puns, which had played a unique role in the works of English and American literature. In today＇ s world, puns are more often seen in the form of ads, rifles and articles in the media, and political slogans. The present paper examines such issues as the origin of the term, functions, the history of the ups and downs of puns and punsters, and the characteristics of different types of puns.
