摘　　要：叶理绥是哈佛燕京学社的第一任社长,他具有学术远见,学术胸襟开阔,并以制度化管理学社事务,逐渐建立和不断健全学社管理制度;在制度的执行上,严格有准则又能做到积极沟通,通过大量的书信与各合作方进行沟通并及时回答和解决合作过程中遇到的问题,使学社得以有效地运转。Serge Elisseeff is the first president of Harvard- Yenching Institute. His academic visions, broad- mindedness combined with the systematic management of the Harvard - Yenching Institute gradually contribute to the establishment and perfection of the management system of the Institute. As for the system implementation, both strictness and communication are emphasized. Meanwhile, the problems in cooperation are solved in time through communicating with different parties by letters, which promote the efficient operation of the Institute.
